Sunstone Lodge at Juniper Springs Resort

Juniper Springs Resort

Sunstone Lodge is situated in the Juniper Springs Resort area in Mammoth Lakes, located on the southeastern side of Mammoth Mountain. The Juniper Springs area is approximately 1 mile northeast of downtown Mammoth Lakes, and approximately 1.5 miles southwest of the Village at Mammoth. Both are accessible via the complimentary shuttle service provided by the town of Mammoth Lakes. The Juniper Springs Resort area is home to Sunstone Lodge, as well as several other five star Mammoth vacation rental communities with ski-in, ski-out access, including Juniper Springs Lodge, Juniper Crest and Eagle Run.

Eagle Lodge and Eagle Run

On the northern side of Sunstone Lodge is Mammoth Mountain's Eagle Run ski run, a beginner to intermediate level ski slope. Sunstone Lodge condos are situated near the end of Eagle Run, approximately 100 yards above Eagle Lodge, the third largest ski lodge on Mammoth Mountain. Eagle Lodge offers ski and snowboard rentals, lessons, ski school for children, a kiddie slope, and lift ticket sales. Also at Eagle Lodge is indoor/outdoor dining with excellent food and a full bar, a perfect spot for a well deserved lunch break.

Eagle Express Chair Lift

Adjacent to Eagle Lodge is Eagle Express chair lift, a high speed six pack chair that whisks skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels up the mountain. While the slopes in the Juniper Springs Resort area are great for beginners, Eagle Express also provides easy access to Mammoth Mountain's more advanced terrain for the more adventurous skiers and boarders.

Valentine Reserve

To the southwest of Sunstone Lodge lies the Valentine Reserve. Owned by the University of California, this reserve is used for study and teaching by scientists from all over the world. Studies conducted here investigate such FLASH forest management, pollination ecology and physical ecology. The reserve serves as a refuge for plants and animals as well as a benchmark against which changes in Mammoth Lakes can be measured.

The land was donated to the University by the Valentine family and is administered by the University of Santa Barbara as part of the Natural Reserve System (NRS). The NRS is a network of reserves distributed throughout California and managed by the University expressly for teaching and research.

Entry to the Valentine Reserve is strictly regulated, available by application only. Public entry is permitted through open house events and through the Reserve’s Outdoor Science Education Program for elementary and middle school students.

Please respect the scientists conducting research and the University’s efforts toward management and preservation by refraining from trespassing.

Sunstone Lodge at Juniper Springs Resort is Mammoth's finest location in both Summer and Winter for those desiring a five star Mammoth vacation rental experience in a tru ski-in, ski-out settting.
